“When Jesus, therefore, had received the vinegar, he said, it is finished, and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30)
George Bernard, an evangelist and hymn writer, in 1912 composed the hymn,’ Old Rugged Cross,' which moved and still move the world. He said he was deeply inspired by the death of Christ on the cross of Calvary. The cross is symbolic of the sacrificial and painful death of our saviour, Jesus Christ to redeem mankind from eternal damnation because of sin. The scripture makes it clear that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. The death of Christ must be reflected on with all sobriety and gravity. Many do not comprehend the purpose of Christ’s suffering and so do not appreciate it.
Have you realized that your sins cannot be forgiven if you refuse to accept the blood of Jesus as a mean of atonement for your sin? He went through all the pains and shame because of you. You need to ponder over this scared revelation with reverence. Of you have not received Christ into your life, then you have to do that now before it is too late.
Challenge: Christ died for your sins
Prayer- Lord let me know the importance of Calvary
