Backsliding Yoke

“The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself” (Proverbs 14:14).

A yoke is a wooden crosspiece that is fastened to the neck of two animals and attached to the plow or cart to be pulled. The backslider is a one time believer who falls into. The backslider drift into sinful habits from a prior state of spirit enabled holiness.

Sin is a yoke, the moment you fall into it, you are under a yoke, and you need to be delivered because you are going nowhere. The Bible likens the backslider to oxen that are in a double yoke. Backsliding occurs in the heart and is often concealed in secret (2 kg17:9). The backslider’s condition may remain hi8dden behind a façade of religious activity, but eventually, it will become evident outwardly. Are you hiding under religious activity in the church as a Chorister, a prayer Band Leader, an Usher, a Sunday School Teacher, a Preacher and yet your heart is filled with sins. Then you need to repent today.
